I released a free module called User Avatar Builder for anyone building on the OpenPBBG framework or looking for a customizable character creation system.
Marketplace Link: https://openpbbg.com/?page=marketplace&action=view&id=2626
Description:
This module allows users to create and customize their own avatars directly from the game. It uses layer-based images to let players choose features like hair, eyes, clothing, and more. It's ideal for games where you want user-generated characters without relying on uploaded profile pictures.
Features:
- Fully open-source and free to use.
- Easy integration with existing user systems.
- Layer-based system for avatar building (head, eyes, mouth, clothing, etc.).
- Includes a simple preview and save function.
- Stores avatar configuration data to allow future edits.
- Can be extended with your own image layers or categories.
- Works out-of-the-box with the default OpenPBBG/GL setup.
- Replace the default user avatar (to make use of the new user identity)
Installation:
Just follow the instructions on the module page to install it. It requires minimal setup and is designed to be plug-and-play.
If you're building a game where user identity matters or want to add extra flair to your character profiles, this is a solid starting point.
Feel free to post feedback or improvements.
Thanks to all the original GRPG module creator (Hardcopi) and the character graphic designer (
